WhatsApp Payment Link FAQ

How to send payment links on WhatsApp?

WhatsApp is one of the fastest ways to collect UPI payments because customers don't have to type your UPI ID, search in their UPI app, or confirm spelling. A properly formatted UPI deep link opens supported UPI apps directly with the payee details pre-filled. This reduces failed transactions caused by incorrect UPI IDs, wrong payee names, or incomplete payment instructions. A UPI payment link begins with upi://pay and includes parameters like payee address (pa), payee name (pn), amount (am), and currency (cu). When a customer taps the link, the OS routes it to an installed UPI app with all details pre-filled.
Follow these simple steps: Step 1: Enter your Payee Name (the business name customers will see) Step 2: Enter your UPI ID (e.g., yourname@paytm) Step 3: Add the amount in rupees (optional - leave blank for any amount) Step 4: Click "Copy WhatsApp Link" and paste it into any WhatsApp chat For higher conversion, include a short instruction like "Tap to pay via UPI" before the link. Mention the amount and purpose (e.g., "Order #1234 payment") to build customer trust.
To maximize successful payments: • Use your exact UPI ID and keep the Payee Name consistent across invoices and WhatsApp profile • For fixed amounts, use rounded values (e.g., ₹199.00) • Avoid shortened links that hide the destination - customers may see them as risky • Always include the purpose of payment in your message If you run multiple counters or staff UPI handles, standardize naming: one handle per location or a master handle for remote orders.
Both are valid and serve different purposes: • QR Code: Perfect for in-person counter payments where customers can scan • WhatsApp Link: Best for remote payments, delivery orders, and repeat customers Many businesses use both: a QR standee in-store and WhatsApp payment links for delivery and online orders.
